What Do you Need to Know Before Adding Garden Sculptures

There are so many of us who wish to spend more time outdoors, especially if you work a 9-5 office job. If you have space outside of your home like a backyard or even a front yard, then you should consider yourself one of the lucky ones. The problem with most people’s yards is that they don’t function the way they should so most people never get any use out of them. Today we’ll go over a few tips and tricks so you can change your yard into a place for you and your whole family.

1. Visualize

You should always spend the time to really visualize what you want to get out of your outdoor space, do you want it to be a family space, or maybe you want it to look more modern like a work of art. You should try to pick a style that matches your home. For example, an old Victorian era home will look truly out of place with a modern garden. You should also consider how much space you have, drawing up your garden on a piece of paper and drawing inspiration from somewhere to map out where everything should go will save you time and energy in the long run.

2. Location, Location, Location!

Where you place bigger pieces of furniture or garden sculptures is the key to making your garden look put together. You can’t put garden sculptures anywhere randomly and hope it turns out for the best. When you have a truly beautiful piece, you want it to stand out and shine in the best place possible so take your time when choosing what should go where and play around with it in your sketches if you are not sure. Remember you can always move things around and see what looks best and what works best for you.

3. Sculptures

There are so many garden sculptures available now in a wide range of colours and shapes. The best material to choose though is stone as it will outlast almost any other material and it can stand up to various weather elements. You don’t have to necessarily choose stone for your garden sculptures, but you should always choose a piece of art that you truly love and admire so you can be proud to show it off to everyone, or just keep it as a little gem for yourself.

4. Instillation

You need to keep in mind that safety comes first so whenever you are installing anything heavy you should always think about the safety of the people who are going to be around it. A sculpture should always be placed on level ground; you might even want to pour a concrete base for extra safety. Most manufacturers will come with instructions as to how to install the sculpture safely or if it is a custom piece then maybe ask someone who has some experience for advice.

5. Maintenance

Gardens like any room in the house require maintenance. Garden sculptures should be cleaned and polished every time you think they are starting to look a bit dull. Unless of course you would prefer that old and weathered look like some of us do. As far as your garden goes, you can always hire someone to do regular maintenance or maybe research the type of plants you have so you know how to care for them.

6. Have Fun!

Adding something new to your home should always be a fun and stress free experience. You should never do something you don’t want to. It might seem a little challenging at times so when it does start to feel like that, you should take a step back, do something else for a while, then when you feel good again, keep going. Always make sure you are having fun!
