Most people think that fishing is just an excuse to get away from your wife and drink beer all day while staring at the water with a stick in your hand. Others will say that it is a relaxing activity that gives people the time to unwind, reflect on their lives, connect with nature, something, something, joy of catching fish, blah, blah, blah… Yeah, all that is true, but it is far from the whole story. Do not be fooled, fishing is no walk in the park. It is a dangerous, chaotic, and an unpredictable activity. Hooks flying around, rough terrain, erratic wildlife, and when you add a little alcohol to that mixture, well, you might just witness the most hilarious things you have ever seen.
Fishing is not just a boring sport for retired old men, it can actually be very fun. But, don’t seem to realize that, or at least they didn’t realize that until recent year. Just over a decade ago, what happened on a fishing trip stayed between your fishing buddies and the fish. OK, your buddies would probably tell everyone about it, but it was your word against theirs and you can always say they are exaggerating or made it up. However, things are different today. Everyone has a smartphone and people are mounting GoPros on just about anything. This means that your fishing mishaps are well documented from every angle. But, whats even worse, they are very likely to be posted online and thanks to the Internet’s weird fascination of “fails” it will go viral in no time. And the Internet never forgets, the internet remembers. Your epic fails will forever be recorded, duplicated, and spread throughout the vast digital ocean.
Anyhow, let us have a moment to laugh at other peoples misfortunes. Here are some of the top funny fishing video compilations that I have recently come across.
Let’s start with the man who is the incarnation of Murphy’s laws – Bill Dance. Basically, with this chubby old guy, anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. From falling into the water to a tree falling on his head, this guys is a hazard no only to himself, but the people around him as well. His reactions to all his misfortunes are priceless and you should definitely check out his blooper compilations.
Next we have the fail compilation from The Consummate Sportsman YouTube channel. Now you won’t see Bill Dance type of shenanigans in these videos, but if you fish and you know the struggle, you will find them hilarious.
And finally we have the family guy from the Catfish and Carp YouTube channel that records all his fishing adventures and misadventures. His witty sense of humor will have you laughing with tears.
